Living in a Mobile Home Park

What are the advantages of living in a mobile home park? The answer depends on the park, and the services you will use, here are some of the benefits I hear buyers talk about when looking at specific parks.

Common area maintenance: The common grounds, streets, walkways, green areas, don’t require you to maintain them. This applies to swimming pools, and children’s play areas as well. This can allow the owner to spend more time doing the things they enjoy. And if you do enjoy a little gardening then most homes have space for a small garden (check with management on any limitations, before you buy).

Community standards: The community management enforces a set of standards that help keep the community neat and clean. Common standards include requiring approval before adding any structures (storage sheds, gazebo’s, etc.). These standards allow you to enjoy your home without having to live with your neighbor’s junk pile.

Security: Various parks have differing levels of security, from patrols to 24hr security gates, etc.

Swimming Pool/Recreation: Many parks have common swimming pools for residents’ use. Others have fitness facilities, recreation rooms and other shared use areas.

Organized activities: there are often community clubs that organize various activities or outings.

It is important to consider not only the home in the park, but the park itself, understand their rules and enforcement, before your purchase.
